We have continued our son's lessons with Anderson for many years now, and for many reasons. He has a calm demeanor, and passion for his art which allows him to form a comfortable relationship with our son while also being able to drive him forward in his lessons.

He is always professional, and respects our time with never a late appointment or cancelled lesson; we can depend on him. He is an excellent communicator both with my son, and with us, and we feel very fortunate that we have found such a driven and skilled young man to teach our son. I very highly recommend Anderson!

Diane B.

Anderson is an amazing teacher. He is patient, understanding, reliable, punctual, with a calm demeanor. He teaches my 4 children ages 7-11 in my home, and is very respectful. I have referred him to many friends and will continue to do so!

Natasha S.

Our 2 daughters have been taking piano lessons with Anderson for more than a year now and we can’t say enough great things about him. He is patient, professional and skilled.

The convenience of in-home lessons is a blessing for busy parents. Anderson was also willing to find specific music based on my daughter’s interests. Both of their abilities have come a long way under his instruction, we recommend him without hesitation.

Because a Great Teacher Makes All the Difference

Sophia D.

Nothing but excellent things to say about Anderson and his team. Anderson has an excellent teaching style that keeps his students engaged and excited to learn. We’ve come a long way in one short year even with the Covid interruptions. Would highly recommend Summit School of Music.

Kimberlee B.

My daughter has really enjoyed learning piano with Anderson this past year. The piano lessons are fun and engaging, while still packing in lots of theory and learning. Anderson is great at communicating helpful techiniques and is very encouraging.

Jody H.

My sons and my nephew have a piano lesson with Anderson for awhile now. He is very patient, professional and excellent with kids and always find an interesting songs for them to learn. I am pleased with my son progress. I would be more happy to recommend him to everyone. Thank you Anderson.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an In-Home Lesson?
An in-home piano lesson means the teacher comes to you. Instead of driving to a studio or someone else’s home, your child learns right in the comfort of your own space. It’s convenient, time-saving, and stress-free, all while getting the same high-quality instruction you'd expect from a traditional music school.
  • How do I know my child is safe with the teacher?
Your child’s safety is our top priority. We've been teaching in-home piano lessons for 14 years with zero issues and all of our teachers undergo a criminal background check through the Toronto Police or York Regional Police before joining our team. In addition to being thoroughly vetted, our teachers are experienced professionals who are passionate about music and deeply committed to creating a positive, respectful learning environment for every child. We also require that a parent or guardian be present in the home during each lesson, so you can always feel confident and at ease.
  • What areas do you serve for in-home lessons?
We currently offer in-home piano lessons to families in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham. If you’re outside these areas, feel free to reach out, we’ll gladly let you know if we can accommodate your location!
  • What hours do you teach?
We offer 1-on-1 piano lessons during the following hours: Monday to Friday: 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM If you have multiple children enrolled, we schedule back-to-back lesson times for added convenience, saving both time and travel for you and the teacher.
  • At what age can my child start taking lessons?
Children can begin private one-on-one lessons as early as age 4, but we typically recommend starting around age 5 or 6. Every child is different, their maturity level and ability to focus for a sustained period play a big role in determining readiness. If you're unsure, we’re happy to help assess during your consultation.
  • We don't have an instrument. Should we buy?
Yes, your child will need an instrument at home in order to begin in-home lessons. We strongly recommend starting with a digital piano with 88 weighted keys. This closely mimics the feel of an acoustic piano, ensuring proper finger strength and technique development. Important: Do not purchase a keyboard - keyboards often lack weighted keys and proper key size, which can lead to poor playing habits. Only purchase 88-key models - anything less will limit your child’s progress as they advance. If you’re unsure which model to choose, we’d be happy to recommend trusted brands and local retailers during your consultation.
  • How much do lessons cost and what's included?
Tuition rates may vary from year to year, so please refer to our Tuition Rates page for the most up-to-date information. We offer two billing options: • 12 equal monthly payments (September–August) • 10 equal monthly payments (September–June) Your monthly rate stays consistent, no matter how many lessons fall in a given month. All holidays, studio breaks, and potential student absences are already factored in, making your payments simple and predictable all year long. Our tuition is all-inclusive, meaning it covers far more than just the time spent in each weekly lesson. It reflects the full value of the instruction and support your child receives throughout the year, including: Weekly one-on-one lesson time exclusively reserved for your child Teacher preparation and personalized lesson planning A professionally trained piano instructor who travels directly to your home Ongoing professional development to ensure high-quality teaching All required method, theory, and technical books, provided and updated as needed Studio operating costs (insurance, software, memberships, continued education, etc.) Access to music learning apps and digital resources Two bonus lessons, or the flexibility to miss up to two lessons per year without penalty
  • Do you offer any discounts?
Yes , we offer a Sibling Discount to families with multiple children enrolled: Enroll 2 students – get $10 off per month Enroll 3 students – get $20 off per month This discount applies to both 10-month and 12-month billing plans.
  • Do you offer a free trial?
We don’t offer free trial lessons, as we value and respect our teachers’ time. However, we do offer trial lessons at our standard single-lesson rate. This gives your family a chance to meet the teacher, experience a full lesson, and see if it’s a good fit before committing long-term. Our teachers are experienced, passionate, and carefully selected, so we’re confident they’ll build a great connection with your child from the very first lesson.
  • Do you provide make-up lessons for missed classes?
We do not offer make-ups, credits, or refunds for missed student lessons as they are reserved specifically for your family each week. With in-home lessons, rescheduling is particularly challenging due to the logistics of travel and tightly planned teaching routes. That’s why your tuition includes 2 built-in absences per year with no penalty. If all 35 or 41 lessons are attended, those two simply become bonus lessons at no extra cost. As a full-time, appointment-based studio, your child’s time slot is held exclusively for your family. We cannot reassign missed time or accommodate one-off changes. If a teacher needs to cancel a lesson, a full credit is applied at the prorated rate.
  • Are there any contracts?
No contracts here! Lessons are billed month-to-month, and you’re free to cancel anytime. Out of courtesy, we simply ask for a few weeks’ notice if you decide to stop lessons, just so we can plan accordingly. Please note that we do not offer refunds for unused lessons once a month has been paid.
  • What if we start mid-month or mid-year?
If you start lessons in the middle of the month, we’ll simply pro-rate your first payment to reflect the number of lessons you'll have that month. After that, you’ll move into our regular monthly billing schedule, either over 10 months (September–June) or 12 months (September–August), depending on your plan.
  • What if I enroll in summer lessons but I'm away for all of July or August?
No problem! Scheduling for summer lessons is completely flexible. Lessons can follow your regular time slot, be spaced out over the summer, or even condensed into a shorter window (such as 2–3 weeks) to accommodate your travel plans. For example, you might schedule 3 lessons over two weeks if you’re planning to be away for a full month. Your teacher will work with you directly to find the perfect schedule that fits both your availability and their teaching calendar.
  • How do I get started?
We’ve made enrolling as simple and stress-free as possible. Book a free online consultation with our team. We’ll get to know you, learn about your goals for music lessons, and walk you through our school policies, including tuition, cancellations, and scheduling. Ready to move forward? We’ll send you a registration link to officially enroll your child in our in-home program. We’ll match you with the right teacher based on your availability and your child’s needs. Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Anderson Chau, a classically trained, RCM Certified piano teacher with over 14 years of experience and the founder of Summit School of Music. I started Summit to make learning piano easier for busy families in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham, bringing personalized, in-home lessons right to your doorstep.

Although we specialize in classical music and are fully trained to prepare students for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams, the majority of our students learn for the pure joy of music. At Summit, we believe music should be more than just marks and exams. It should be about passion, creativity, and the simple enjoyment of playing.

Music has the power to inspire confidence, unlock creativity, and create lasting memories. Our mission is to make those moments accessible to every family, right in the comfort of their own home.

Our Why

We know how packed family schedules can be. Between school, activities, and work, adding music lessons shouldn’t mean rushing across town every week. That’s why we bring the music to you.

In-home lessons mean:

  • No more fighting traffic to get to a studio

  • No waiting around while your child learns

  • No rescheduling headaches

Because we come to you, there are fewer reasons to miss a lesson and more reasons to keep learning. Our commitment to showing up consistently, week after week, month after month, year after year, means your child’s progress never stalls.

We make it easy for families to integrate music into their lives, seamlessly and stress-free. Because music should be a source of joy, not a logistical challenge.
